One week to go.........

Hey check this out......
There is a place called Anjih, my blog name, virtually smack bang in the middle of India!
How spooky is that!!

Well its 29th Feb and I guess Jackie is up above the clouds now.......

I have virtually all train journeys and accommodation booked.
Staying in homestays/guest houses and getting around by train (some travel Co. picked up on my difficulties re booking trains from UK and did it for me for a small fee. Well worth it.....well.... as long as I receive them...!!!)

We'll be eating mostly with our hosts so presumably we eat the same food they feed their family. So unless they want to kill off their kids we should be fairly safe.
I'll be OK. Jackie did a good job taking care of me in Peru....altitude sickness. No, not alchohol poisoning.

Seems like 22nd was bad choice to fly back. It is Holi celebrations where the natives go manic on drugs and booze and chuck paint at everyone. I wasnt worried about the paint but evidently its not wise for white-skinned (glamorous) females to be out on the streets. So the host of our guesthouse in Jaipur has promised to get me safely to the airport/train early in the day to avoid trouble. He called me to voice his concerns! How kind is that?!!
I'm sure we will be in good hands.

Well this time next week I too will be up above the clouds......

if I remember all my documents.......

in the planning stage....

Joining friend, Jackie, in India in just over 2 weeks time!!
aaaaaaaggggghhhhhh!
Im nervous.
She is much younger, braver, funnier and probably nicer than me but we get on well!
We met on adventure trip to Peru in October 2006.
She is giving up work for a year or two to see the world!
Wow how brave is that?
Decided at short notice to join her at the start of her adventure.

She flies out end of Feb. I join her a week later.
I have flights booked and visa sorted.

First 2 nights in Delhi sort of booked and itinerary in mind:
Delhi, Agra (cant go to India and not see Taj Mahal can we?) Jaipur, Jodhpur, return via Jaipur for Elephant Festival then return home 22nd.
Would love to do Jaisalmer but bit near the border for my liking + limited time.

But how to get from place to place??
The website for reserving train tickets wont accept my money!!
Crazy and extremely frustrating.
And if we miss the bus its a mighty long walk to the next town!

Hoping to stay in homestays (staying with Indian families) or hostels..... Bit strapped for cash now thanks to my Rover costing bucket-loads in last 6 weeks.
No not my dog, stupid.

(My funds have to last 2 weeks. Jackie's have to last her 2 years!!)
Hee hee.

So there we are.

My mini adventure in India.

Im nervous and can't believe I'm going.

I could still just bottle out.........
but it's not my way......
