Namaste!
It just won't go away.
Just when you think its gone it comes back with avengeance.
But I've not disgraced myself yet and seem very clever at timing my explosions.
Today having very chilled day laying in the dappled shade of our rather 'nace hise' reading the Ramayana. This is a classical poem of Rama, one of the incarnations of Vishnu. Very well known poem in India.(longest poem in the world I think?) You will not be at all surprised that I am not reading the original version in Hindi but a children's illustrated story book in English that I found on the bookshelf. Just my level.
Yesterday hired driver and we did all the sights + more that we were planning to spread over 3 days. Hence the day off.
We deserve it.
But it proved hard work cos the driver knew NO ENGLISH AT ALL.
We were frustrated even before we got to the end of the driveway.
In the end it was 'yeah ok whatever no Hindi'.
In the end it was 'yeah ok whatever no Hindi'.
And explaining that Jackie really did need to find a toilet pronto involved a rather graphic demonstration in public to get the message across!
But it worked!
And he was pleased cos his back seat was about to change its appearance!
Snake charmers at Monkey temple
charming.......
Included visit to Amber Fort. We hired a guide but dont quiz me on it cos I hardly understood a word he said. Even if I had understood his pronounciation I was distracted by his rather good looks! ( the only good-looking Indian so far, sorry guys.....well apart from Kul of course. Better say that just in case he reads my blog!)
The day before we walked around the old part of Jaipur the 'pink city'.
You expect it to be quite spectacular. Probably was back in 1876 when the town was painted pink to welcome the Prince of Wales.
That was a lot of tins of Dulux.
Dirty little beggars....
Well we off to socialise with the Hoi Polloi tonight at the inviitation of the head of Rajasthan Police. Straight up!
Think I might feel a tad out of place!
Actually Kul our host asked if he minded if he dragged us along.
Im sure he just agreed through gritted teeth.
Why would he want riff-raff at his celebrations?
Should be an interesting evening.
